German Red Wines
German red wines are almost unheard of in Britain, nearly all the production is consumed in Germany, where red wine now outsells white. The dominant grape variety is Spaetburgunder (Pinot Noir) and German wines are now winning top world-wide Pinot Noir competitions, beating the French burgundy wines! Jancis Robinson Master of Wine and leading wine critic, has written that “German reds are the wine trades best kept secret”. We have Kabinett, Spaetlese and Barrique Spaetburgunders, many gold medal winning wines, which are receiving acclaim once tasted.
